Steven Stone, renowned for their exquisite diamonds, luxury jewelry, and personalized bespoke services, sought to elevate their e-commerce presence by optimizing their website’s user experience and user interface. Steven Stone’s online store serves as a crucial touchpoint for customers, enabling them to browse their extensive jewelry collection, explore their services, and make purchases conveniently. The Challenge
Despite a successful e-commerce presence, Steven Stone identified opportunities to enhance their online experience and maintain a competitive edge. A key objective was to replicate the success of their in-person bespoke service by introducing a comprehensive three-step product customization flow into their online store.
The product scope necessitated a complete website redesign. The most significant challenge lay in mapping out the “Create Your Own” feature, ensuring that it aligned with the following criteria: Simplicity and intuitiveness, efficient filtering of tens of thousands of diamonds, and seamless navigation between customization steps.
UX Process
To gain a comprehensive understanding of the project’s scope, I engaged in discussions with company leadership to delve into their in-person bespoke service and its proven effectiveness. Additionally, customer behavior analysis, usability testing, and detailed findings documentation were conducted to inform the design process.
Through iterative low-fidelity wireframing, two potential layouts emerged: a single-page layout and a three-page layout. A/B testing revealed that the three-page layout offered superior SEO benefits and simplified navigation.
The Solution
The revamped website features a significantly simplified and approachable interface, fostering an intuitive and user-friendly experience. The enhanced navigation and simplified design elements empower customers to seamlessly explore the jewelry collection, customize products, and make informed purchasing decisions.
